INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR PL510 REAR SWAY BAR ASSEMBLY

1)  INSTALL THE SPUD IN THE REAR CONTROL ARM BY DRILLING A 5/8” DIAMETER HOLE PER THE SKETCH BELOW.  WELD IT TO THE OUTSIDE FLANGE AND TO THE INSIDE FLANGE.  WHILE THIS CAN BE DONE ON THE CAR, IT IS EASIER TO DO IT BY REMOVING THE CONTROL ARM FROM THE CAR.

 

 

 

                               

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2)  WITH THE REAR SUSPENSION AT RIDE HEIGHT AND THE CAR AT A HEIGHT AT WHICH YOU CAN WORK UNDERNEATH IT, ASSEMBLE THE SWAY BAR ARMS AND THE COWBELLS. INSTALL THE ROD END LINKS IN THE CENTER HOLE ON THE SWAY BAR ARM AND BOLT THE  THE OTHER END OF THE SWAY BAR LIINK TO TO THE SWAY BAR SPUD IN THE CONTROL ARM.

                                  

3)  SWING THE SWAY BAR UP TO THE FRAME RAILS AND ADJUST IT FORE AND AFT UNTIL THE LINKS ARE APPROXIMATELY VERTICAL.  BE SURE THE BAR IS AS CLOSE TO PERPENDICULAR TO THE CENTERLINE OF THE CAR AS POSSIBLE.  WELD THE COWBELLS TO THE FRAME RAILS AT THIS POINT.

 

4)  AT THIS POINT, WITH THE LINKS DISCONNECTED, MOVE THE BAR TO BE SURE IT PIVOTS FREELY.  IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO SHIM THE PILLOW PLOCKS TO ACHIEVE THIS.  

 

5)  WHEN ADJUSTING THE SWAY BAR, BE SURE YOU HAVE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE SWAY BAR LINKS AND ARMS, AND THE HALFSHAFTS AND SHOCKS.
